Show Up, Stand Out Truancy and Absenteeism program

Our goal is to reduce the rate of unexcused absences within DC Public and Charter Schools and help parents get their children to school every day. In addition to case management and family support provided by Community Advocates, middle school students are provided with a Youth Coordinator that engages and works closely with each truant student involved in the program to determine what school based activities such as groups, mentoring, and sports activities would best serve to reconnect them to their academics and reduce absenteeism.

Service Eligibility: Students Student at a school in DC
Application: Intake: Once a student has been referred by their school attendance counselor the child’s parent will be contacted by our Community Advocate or Youth Coordinator to discuss the program further and schedule a day and time to complete intake. Intake can be completed in the parent’s home, school, office or anywhere the parent feels comfortable meeting. To qualify for our program a student must have 5-9 unexcused absences and attend one of the following schools: Watkins Elementary School Payne Elementary School Wheatley Education Campus Stuart-Hobson Middle School Paul Charter School Perry Street Prep Imagine Hope Community Charter- Lamond Campus
