Ayuda
Human Trafficking
Through Ayuda’s legal services program, survivors of trafficking have access to competent and compassionate representation in their immigration matters at all stages of the process, from assistance with reporting human trafficking to relevant law enforcement authorities to removal proceedings to T Visas to U.S. citizenship applications and a range of other immigration matters.
In addition, many survivors of human trafficking have also been targets of fraudulent schemes involving immigration legal services fraud or other scams specifically targeting immigrant community members. In such cases, survivors may also receive services through Ayuda’s one-of-a-kind Project END to report fraud and/or seek restitution.
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
Ayuda’s Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Program provides holistic services in a culturally sensitive environment and trauma-informed way to low-income immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Children and Youth
Ayuda provides a unique holistic legal and social services program for immigrant child victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and other crimes.
Ayuda represents children in custody and guardianship matters in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland, and also represents children in matters before USCIS and the immigration courts. No one should face the immigration system without an attorney, least of all a child.
Ayuda’s Staff Attorneys are well-versed in the special remedies available to child victims and have extensive experience assisting children in obtaining legal immigration status.
Ayuda also represents immigrant children in ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement) custody at certain facilities, providing Know Your Rights Trainings as well as consultations and representation to detained children. Ayuda represents many children released from ORR custody to the D.C. region.
Ayuda’s social services team helps immigrant children access needed services and educational resources, and provides counseling and other referrals as appropriate.
LEP & Deaf Clients
Ayuda’s Language Access Program provides free professional interpretation and document translation services to approximately 100 nonprofits and law firms in the DC Metropolitan area.
LGBTQ Immigrants
Ayuda offers specialized legal and social services to help meet LGBTQ+ immigrants’ unique needs. We endeavor to uphold their legal rights through affirming and supportive services. Ayuda’s immigration legal team has experience advocating for the needs of LGBTQ clients and fighting the discrimination they face within the contexts of immigration and family law.
