Life Empowerment Program

Organization: Healthy Babies Project

When youth enroll in HBP’s Life Empowerment Program (LEP), they become part of a group that learns about personal safety, family planning, and communication skills.
LEP is conducted in small groups across the District of Columbia. The program follows evidence-based models and is designed to empower youth to change their behaviors using:
Interactive activities so teenagers can retain information
Gender-appropriate and age-appropriate classes
Community locations across the District to make LEP accessible
4- and 8-week programs
Financial incentives when youth satisfactorily complete LEP requirements
