REAL connects volunteers with children and their parents through literacy and health activities in Department of Health and Human Services waiting rooms. Volunteers read, talk about shapes/letters/numbers/colors, talk about healthy foods, draw and color, do activity sheets, etc. with children who are present. Volunteers also offer free books for children to take home with them. Sites in Germantown, Rockville, and Silver Spring.
