Family Preservation

Organization: Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative

Through funding from the Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA), E/BFSC provides Motivational Interviewing case management services to support efforts of caregivers in Wards 5 & 6 to safely and adequately care for their children, identify and alleviate barriers to well-being, and accomplish goals that better position their families to thrive.

-Information & Referral
Families are provided with up-to-date information about community and government resources to meet immediate and long-term needs such as emergency housing, utility and rental assistance, childcare vouchers, behavioral health treatment, and other necessary supports.

-Case Management
Each family is assigned to a Family Support Worker (FSW) with whom to partner on such areas as: navigating educational systems, obtaining government benefits, identifying therapeutic resources for themselves and their child, tenant rights, and much more. The FSW also provides crisis intervention, conducts home visits, and encourages a healthy interdependence with the community.
